Karun Verma is a Finnish photographer and artist based in Helsinki.

In his artistic work, Verma discusses the diverse concept of human condition in relation to the surrounding society, culture and environment. His practice is rooted in the field of documentary photography and the topics of his works range from everyday situations and details to broad societal issues. His work recurrently explores themes such as identity, gaze, belonging and empathy. Verma is interested in the power images hold in shaping our worldviews.

Verma was awarded the 2024 Youth Peace Prize for his contributions to promoting equality and peace. In February 2025, he was named to the University of Helsinki’s “30 Under 30” list as one of the future promises in his field.

Verma holds a BA degree from University of Helsinki’s Art Studies program and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Photography at Aalto University.
